6"w x 8"h

$ 6,500.00

Margaret Tafoya was one of the great matriarchs of Pueblo pottery.  She was known for her large carved and plainware stone polished vessels.  It is not often that pieces come available which have been published.  This jar was photographed for the book, “Born of Fire” and was also included in the museum exhibitions of the same name.  The long neck jar on the left is a striking piece of her pottery from the 1950’s  The design is a complicated mountain pattern with rain designs extending from the top of the carved area.  The jar is fully carved and highly polished and it is featured on p. 74 in the book.  It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.  The jar is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Margaret Tafoya”.  This is definitely a wonderful opportunity to acquire a piece of history on many levels!
